Pressure Equipment Design Registration
ABSA, the pressure equipment safety authority, is responsible for registering pressure
equipment designs in Alberta. ABSAs Design Survey Department will evaluate and, where
applicable, register pressure equipment designs in accordance with:
Safety Codes Act Flow Chart
This flow
chart (AB-508) will help a person to determine if a pressurized item is subject
to the Safety Codes Act and what requirements apply.

Design Registration Fees
ABSAs authority to charge fees is derived from the Government
Organization Act and the Boilers
Delegated Administration Regulation. Through an administration agreement between
the Alberta Government and ABSAs Board of Directors, ABSA and its Safety Codes Officers
are authorized to charge fees, as set by ABSA's Board of Directors and approved by
the Alberta Minister of Municipal Affairs.
