ABSA's Vision
To lead in pressure equipment safety.  

ABSA's Mission
ABSA, as a regulatory organization in Alberta, works with our
stakeholders to ensure that pressure equipment is constructed
and operated in a manner that protects public safety.
 

ABSA's Mandate

The following programs are administered by ABSA:

  • design and procedure review, acceptance and registration 
  • annual registration and in-service inspection of pressure equipment
  • testing and certification of pressure welders
  • examination, certification and annual registration of power engineers
  • shop, construction and installation inspection of new pressure equipment
  • authorization of organizations through quality control programs to conduct activities permitted by the regulations
  • safety education and training
  • investigation of accidents
  • records management, including pressure equipment manufacturer's data reports

ABSA's Quality Policy
 
ABSA is the regulatory authority whose ultimate quality objective is to
prevent injury to people arising from the operation of pressure equipment.

ABSA strives to achieve this goal through the professional competence,
high motivation and service orientation of our staff working
with stakeholders to implement pressure equipment safety
programs in the most effective and efficient way.

ABSA has established a quality management system to meet the
quality objectives and to ensure continual improvement.
